Dr. Kelly Harper, Founder
With nearly 20 years of private practice experience, a servant’s heart and the desire to live a purpose-driven life I could no longer deny the Lord’s call to serve. The building of Tuscan Ridge Animal Hospital is the fulfillment of a long held dream to realize God’s plan for my life by sharing His love with every patient, person and family that I have the privilege to serve.
Dr. Harper earned a B.S. in Laboratory Animal Science from Delaware Valley College of Science & Agriculture in 1992 and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Professional obligations aside, Dr. Harper’s most important and rewarding job is being mom to her two daughters.
In her spare time, Dr. Harper most enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and cheering on her alma mater Virginia Tech. Go HOKIES!!!
I have 1 Labrador retriever who doubles as husband's hunting partner and family pet, a beagle and 2 fabulous cats at home as well as our hospital pets: Mushu, our Bearded Dragon, Georgia Belle, our "Southern Siamese" (we're working on getting her to meow with a drawl ) and Macon our clever cat who can open doors and drawers.
Carah Petit Wheeler, Day Camp Coordinator
I grew up in Northern Virginia then moved to Youngsville, North Carolina in 2000 with my daughter. I have been involved in the fitness industry since I was 17 years old and I enjoy running and working out.
My greatest passion is animals and I have worked with cats and dogs since 2005. I have always been fortunate to work the “fun part” of Day Camp in my animal care jobs. Outside of the hospital, I also work with the Southern Mastiff rescue group where I have rescued my own two personal beauties, Raina and Louise.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with the group of people at Tuscan Ridge Animal Hospital and do what I love!
Tina Staples, Pet Grooming
I was born in Raleigh, NC and have lived in North Carolina all my life. I have been an All Breed Professional Pet Groomer since 1994. I attended grooming school at Atlantic Coast Academy of Animal Arts in Cary, NC and I graduated Dec. 16, 1994. I have also completed the Veterinary Dermatology Certification Coarse so I am certified and aware of skin issues that require medicated baths and special attention.
I feel I have a special way in dealing with pets if they are scared or nervous. I make them feel comfortable, therefore I have a great amount of success in not having to sedate these pets. It is my goal to make your pet feel relaxed and enjoy their time when with me. I keep up with the latest grooming trends, products and equipment to help make your pet look and feel their best.
I have always had a love for animals and a passion to work with them. I take pride in my work and have a gentle touch with all pets including puppies and older pets. I enjoy being able to spend quality time with my furry friends and think of them as family. I look forward to seeing my clients daily and welcome new ones as well.
When I am not grooming I love spending time with my family and friends. I have a husband, three sons and two rescue dogs (lab/border collie mix and a carolina wild dog mix). I love all sports but my favorites are hockey and football. I am very passionate about my teams, which are The Carolina Hurricanes, UNC Tar heels and Washington Redskins, and love watching them as much as I can.
My goal is when my kids are grown I want to donate my free time and groom at animal shelters to help the animals feel good, look nice and ready to find their "fur-ever" home.
